What changed
The Government of Chhattisgarh notified five new districts in September 2022. RBI has now designated lead banks for each: State Bank of India for Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Sakti; Bank of Baroda for Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chouki; Central Bank of India for Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur. New district working codes (01R, 01P, 01Q, 01S, 01T) have been allotted for BSR reporting.
What it means for you
Banks operating in these new districts must align their branch-level reporting and lead bank coordination with the assigned lead banks. The new working codes will be used in all BSR submissions. Lenders should update their internal systems and ensure compliance with lead bank directives for these areas.
What you must do
- Update internal systems with new district working codes (01R, 01P, 01Q, 01S, 01T) for BSR reporting.
- Coordinate with the designated lead bank (SBI, Bank of Baroda, or Central Bank of India) for district-level banking activities.
- Review branch mapping to ensure correct district assignment for the five new districts.
- Communicate changes to relevant operations and compliance teams.
